If you're looking for a quick & easy way to get breakfast on the table faster, look no further than these Oven-Baked Sausage Patties! This recipe is perfect for busy mornings or meal prep and works with your favorite frozen or fresh sausage patties.

The next time you need to get something on the breakfast table in a hurry, you will totally thank me for this easy and delicious oven baked sausage patties recipe! I love cooking sausage patties on Sundays when I meal prep so that my husband & I can have them as a healthy grab & go option on busy mornings. I also like to make breakfast sausage in the air fryer too when I'm too rushed to be bothered to turn on the oven!

I usually like to make a double batch when I meal prep. It's the easiest way to make sure we're able to have a hearty breakfast no matter how busy the morning looks. My husband loves to make a breakfast sandwich using these homemade bagels I make for us, while my favorite way to enjoy breakfast sausage is paired with something like these Kale & Mushroom Egg Bites, air fryer hash brown patties, fluffy scrambled eggs and a warm Vanilla Chai Latte.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • It’s perfect for meal prep. Spend less time preparing breakfast each morning by meal prepping sausage patties ahead of time so you always have something protein packed to grab & go.
  • It’s versatile. This is a great way to cook different kinds of sausages. Whether you prefer pork sausage patties or you like ground chicken or ground turkey sausage patties, which are often thought to be a healthier option, this method works for them all.
  • It’s easy. Since this recipe works for both frozen and fresh breakfast sausages, all you need to do is adjust the cooking time when preparing. There is no need to defrost your frozen sausage. This recipe will work when cooking breakfast sausage links or patties.

Oven Baked Breakfast Sausage Patties Ingredients & Equipment Needed

  • Breakfast Sausage. You can use either sausage links or sausage patties depending on your personal preference. I love the Chicken Sausage Patties from Applegate Naturals but you can use brands like Jimmy Dean, Al Fresco, Trader Joe's or whatever your favorite brand might be.
  • Parchment Paper or Aluminum Foil. My preference is to cook sausages on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, but you may use whichever you prefer. I love these pre-cut parchment paper sheets because they make for super easy prep & easy clean up.
  • Baking Sheet. For cooking this breakfast sausage patties recipe in the oven, of course!
  • Cooking Spray. I like to use an olive oil cooking spray on the parchment paper just to be safe. If you are using aluminum foil you will absolutely want to spray it with cooking spray ahead of time.
  • Seasonings. If your breakfast sausage patties aren't already seasoned, a quick way to spice them up is to add seasonings like onion powder, oregano, red pepper flakes or even just some salt & pepper.

How to Cook Sausage Patties in the Oven: Step By Step Instructions

1. Pre-heat oven to 400F and line your baking sheet with parchment or foil. Place the sausage patties in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving room in between so the sausages aren't touching each other.

2. Cook the sausage. Once the oven temperature reaches 400F, place the sheet pan into the preheated oven & bake for 15-18 minutes from frozen or 8-10 minutes from fresh. If you're not sure if the sausages are fully cooked yet, the easiest way to tell is by using a digital meat thermometer to test the internal temperature. For pork sausage, the internal temp should be 160F and for chicken or turkey sausage it should reach 165F.

How to Store Oven Baked Sausage Patties

Store leftover sausage in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days for maximum freshness. Alternatively, you can fully cook the breakfast sausage & then freeze them if you don’t think you will eat them within 5 days. If you decide to do this, you can put them in an airtight container or a freezer bag lined with parchment paper, or wrap them individually in plastic wrap, so the patties do not freeze together like hockey pucks. They will keep in the freezer up to 3 months and can easily be reheated on the stove top or in the air fryer on 325F for 3-5 minutes.
