3 Ingredient Ninja Creami Cherry Protein Sorbet

Jump to Recipe

This collagen protein Cherry Sorbet recipe is made in the Ninja Creami ice cream maker with just 3 simple ingredients. The best part is, you can customize the recipe to be either a Cherry Limeade Sorbet or a Chocolate Cherry Sorbet depending on your mood. It's the perfect way to get a little protein boost while satisfying your sweet tooth on hot summer days!

3 scoops of cherry sorbet in a bowl

Making fresh cherry sorbet in the ninja creami machine is an easy way to enjoy delicious sorbet at home whenever the craving strikes. If you like this recipe, I think you'll also enjoy these other fruity sorbets, like this Raspberry Ninja Creami Sorbet , Berry Smoothie Bowl, Pineapple Cherry Dole Whip or this Watermelon Sorbet recipe made in the Ninja Creami.

I've spent the entire summer making tons of homemade ice cream & sorbets so that I could put together a list of the best ninja creami recipes for you to have on hand whenever you're craving frozen sweet treats that are also healthy & protein packed.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • It is a healthy treat. Made with simple ingredients like cherries, lime juice and collagen peptides, it is not only easy & delicious but it is the perfect healthy summer dessert.
  • It is easy. Made in the ninja creami machine, this simple sorbet recipe is quick to whip up to have on hand whenever your sorbet craving strikes.
  • It is better than store bought. Made without cane sugar or any additional sweeteners or additives, plus its ultra creamy texture means this homemade sorbet will beat store bought every time!

Ninja Creami Cherry Sorbet Ingredients & Tested Substitutions

  • Cherries. I usually opt for frozen fruit because it is more cost effective & blends well, but you can absolutely use fresh fruit if you prefer, just make sure to pit your fresh cherries in advance.
  • Lime Juice. Fresh squeezed is best. Alternatively, fresh lemon juice will work as well.
  • Collagen Peptides. This gives the sorbet recipe additional protein as well as creates a more creamy texture of the sorbet.
  • Water. You’ll need a bit of water to make sure it all blends up well. Alternatively, if you do prefer some sweetness & don’t mind the added sugar, you could use a fruit juice like limeade.
  • Dark Chocolate. If you'd like to make the Chocolate Cherry version of this sorbet, you'll simply omit the lime juice from the ice cream base recipe (although honestly, I added chocolate on top of my cherry lime sorbet & it was great so choose your own adventure!) and then pour the melted dark chocolate on top.

Ninja Creami Cherry Sorbet Step by Step Instructions

  1. Make the sorbet base. Add the fresh or frozen cherries, water, lime juice and collagen powder to a blender or food processor & blend until smooth.

2. Freeze. Pour the cherry puree mixture into a ninja creami pint container ensuring you fill only to the max fill line. Place storage lid on securely & freeze for at least 8 hours up to 24 hours.

3. Make the sorbet. Place pint container in the outer bowl of the ninja creami, then lock the outer bowl lid in place. Place bowl assembly into the ninja creami, locking into place in the motor base. Power on the ninja creami & press the sorbet button to process.

4. Respin. Once the sorbet has processed, add one tablespoon of lime juice or a splash of water to the pint, place back into the creami and press use press the re-spin button.

5. Serve. Scoop the cherry sorbet into a dish, cone or glass & enjoy!

6. Optional Topping. Add chocolate to a microwave safe dish & melt in 10 second increments. Drizzle over cherry sorbet & enjoy!

Expert Tips & Tricks

  • Use this cherry sorbet as the base for a smoothie bowl topped with fresh fruit & granola for a refreshing breakfast.
  • If you want some sweetness, you can add a touch of honey or maple syrup to the sorbet base that will add natural sweetness with less sugar than juices or cane sugar.
  • Ninja recommends freezing your creami bases for 24 hours, but I typically freeze mine for 8 and they come out perfect.
  • Ninja’s instructions state that you cannot use the “respin” feature followed by the “mix in” feature. I ALWAYS respin my dairy free ninja creami ice cream recipes, because it needs this in order to be creamy, and I use the mix in function after with no trouble.
  • My best ninja creami tip is, before respinning, I recommend always adding a little bit more water or juice. Just enough to almost cover the top of the pint container is perfect, about 2-3 tsp. This will help ensure the final result is super creamy.

How to Store Ninja Creami Cherry Sorbet

On the off chance you don’t finish this frozen treat in one sitting, here is what you can do to ensure it stays fresh the next time you’d like to enjoy.

Keep the leftovers in the ninja creami pint container & use a spoon to create a level surface with what’s left over. Place the lid back on and store until ready to enjoy again. You’ll need to go through the process again of using the “sorbet” feature, then adding a splash of lime juice or water & remixing again. Cherry sorbet will keep in the freezer up to 2 weeks for maximum freshness.
