What is Pink Gin?
Pink Gin dates back to the 19th century England & was originally used to reference a cocktail made with Plymouth Gin and a few dashes of Angostura Bitters, which is what gives the gin its pink hue.
Pink Gin Fizz Ingredients & Ingredient Notes
- Pink Gin. You will need pink gin for this drink, however you can also make it with regular gin, you'll just lose out on some of the pink hue. Pink gin has a more subtly fruity flavour and sweeter than regular gin, so if you did make the substitution you may want to add .5oz of simple syrup to make things a bit sweeter.
- Raspberry Liqueur. If you are following a low fodmap diet or you would prefer a low ABV cocktail, you can easily swap the raspberry liqueur for cranberry juice. To read more about low fodmap friendly alcohol, you can check out this article I put together.
- Egg White. Use the white from 1 large egg or .5 oz of liquid egg whites. If you're not a fan of egg whites in your cocktails or you are vegan, try this egg white substitute.
- Soda Water. You can use soda water, tonic water or even substitute prosecco for the bubbles.
- Garnishes. Lemon slices, a lemon twist, rose buds or even a splash of lime juice or lemon juice work great as garnishes & add extra flavour.
