Why You'll Love This Ninja Creami Dole Whip Recipe
- It is made with better ingredients. Made with pineapple juice, fresh pineapple chunks (or a can of pineapple) and coconut milk, it's just as tasty as the real thing, without the extra additives or artificial flavors.
- It is easy. Since this dole whip is made in the ninja creami machine, it is incredibly easy to make this creami treat at home.
- It is dairy free. Since this recipe is made with coconut milk, it is dairy free. But don't let that fool you, this copycat dole whip still has an incredibly creamy texture thanks to the power of the Ninja Creami!
Copycat Ninja Creami Dole Whip Ingredients & Tested Substitutions
- Pineapple. I used canned pineapple chunks & the juice, however you can use pineapple juice & fresh or frozen pineapple chunks. You can also use crushed pineapple as well.
- Full-Fat Coconut Milk. Full-fat canned coconut milk works best. Be sure to shake the can to incorporate the coconut cream, as this is what helps to keep the creamy texture.
- Unflavored or Vanilla Protein Powder. I love a healthy ninja creami recipe, so all of my recipes contain protein powder. My personal favorite type of protein powder to use is grass fed beef isolate, as most brands have very minimal ingredients & it tends to offer a creamier texture that isn't at all gritty. If you have another preference, feel free to use it! If you don't have a favorite protein powder yet, you can check out this guide to help find one that's right for you.
Creamy Pineapple Protein Dole Whip Step by Step Instructions
1. Mix the ice cream base. Add the pineapple juice, pineapple chunks, coconut milk and protein powder to a blender, blending until smooth. Pour into a ninja creami pint container, filling it just to the "max fill" line.
2. Freeze. Freeze the dole whip mix for a minimum of 8 hours, up to 24 hours.
3. Make the ice cream. Once fully frozen, place the pint container into the outer bowl. Place the outer bowl lid on top, twisting to lock the lid into place & place the outer bowl into the ninja creami, locking into place.
4. Mix & remix. Power on the Ninja Creami, then press the "lite ice cream" button to mix. Once complete, you will need to add an additional splash of milk or pineapple juice (about 1 tablespoon for a soft serve texture, 2 teaspoon for a harder texture) and respin.
5. Scoop & serve. Scoop the dole whip into bowls & garnish with mint if desired.
Expert Tips, Tricks & Add In's
- Make your dole whip look like the original recipe soft serve by adding the ice cream base to a piping bag. Follow steps 3 & 4 to process the ice cream & then instead of scooping into bowls, simply scoop into a piping bag with the end cut off about one inch from the point.. No need to add a frosting tip. Gently squeeze the soft serve mix with your hands, piping it out like soft serve ice cream into a cup or bowl!
- Switch up the flavors & try adding some orange juice and a splash of fresh lime juice along with the pineapple for a tropical twist.
- If you want a heavier pineapple flavor, swap some of the coconut milk out for additional pineapple juice.
- Add a few additional chunks of fresh pineapple before serving for an extra tasty treat!
- Have a few extra ninja creami pints on hand so you can make multiple servings & never be without this creamy dessert!
How To Store Protein Dole Whip
If you don't finish your dole whip in one sitting, this is how you can store it for best results the next time you want to enjoy dole whip.
Keep the leftovers in the ninja creami pint container & use a spoon to create a level surface with what's left over. Place the lid back on and store until ready to enjoy again. You'll need to go through the process again of using the "lite ice cream" feature, then adding a splash of coconut milk or juice & remixing again. Protein Dole Whip will keep in the freezer up to 2 weeks for maximum freshness.

I do t have a ninja Cermini. Can I make it in an ice cream maker?
prettydeliciouslife says
Hi Judy! This recipe was specifically tested for the Ninja Creami, so unfortunately I can't say for certain if it will work. I have used similar ingredients in a Cuisinart ice cream maker before & it always comes out nicely, so I'd suggest if you're going to try it out just make sure you blend everything well in a blender before adding to your ice cream maker. If you try it and it works, please let me know! 🙂
