Edible Protein Cookie Dough Ingredients & Tested Substitutions

  • Almond Flour. The base of this recipe uses almond flour. Alternatively, you can use oat flour if needed, however do not use white flour unless it has been heat treated as raw flour is not safe to eat.
  • Vanilla Protein Powder. Vanilla protein powder works best, however you may use peanut butter protein powder or unflavored protein powder if you have one you enjoy. I used an easy to digest vegan protein powder called TumLove in my recipe (KIMBERLY15 saves you 15% off your first order!) but you can use any protein powder you like. This recipe will work with whey protein powder, pea protein powder, etc. If you don't have a favorite protein powder yet, you can check out my guide on my favorite easy to digest protein powders.
  • Natural Peanut Butter. Be sure to choose natural peanut butter, one that is only peanuts & salt, as it is generally runnier and will mix better. Alternatively, you may use natural almond butter or cashew butter if you prefer. If you're a fan of it, sunflower butter would work too.
  • Pure Maple Syrup. You should be able to find a high quality pure maple syrup at your local grocery store, but if not here is one I recommend.
  • Recommended Add Ins: Chocolate chips are a great addition if you want to make edible chocolate chip cookie dough. I also recommend a pinch of salt to really enhance the flavors.

Protein Cookie Dough Step By Step Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. In a large bowl, first add ½ cup of almond flour along with ½ cup (which is about 1.5 scoops) of protein powder. Before mixing, add the natural peanut butter along with the pure maple syrup. Mix the dough using a fork until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Note that if the cookie dough is a little too crumbly, you may add a little bit of non-dairy milk (or your milk of choice) or water 1 tablespoon at a time until it resembles a traditional cookie dough texture.

2. Add chocolate chips or other add-ins. Once the cookie dough is mixed, fold in chocolate chips or any other add-ins you're using.

3. Scoop & enjoy! Enjoy the protein powder cookie dough straight from the mixing bowl, or scoop it into individual bowls for serving.
