Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip Ingredients & Tested Substitutions
- Cottage Cheese. The main ingredient in this healthy ranch dip. My personal favorite brands are Breakstone or Good Culture but you may use whatever brand you like. The size of the cottage cheese curds don't matter either because we'll be whipping this up in the food processor. Full fat cottage cheese or low fat are both completely acceptable. You will need the whole container of cottage cheese if you're making this for a crowd or for meal prep.
- Ranch Seasoning Packet. You can find ranch dip seasoning at most grocery stores. If you need a garlic powder and onion powder free option, try this ranch seasoning.
- Shallot Oil. This ingredient is entirely optional but I love adding a drizzle of shallot infused olive oil to the base of this dip. It adds more flavor and creaminess, but it's not a required ingredient.
- Fresh Herbs. Also not required, but adding diced chives, fresh dill or your favorite fresh herbs as a garnish to the creamy cottage cheese dip is a great option for adding more flavor and visual appeal.
- Veggies or Chips. Serve the dip along size fresh vegetables like carrot sticks or baby carrots, bell peppers or broccoli florets. You can also serve tortilla chips, fresh pita or potato chips alongside the dip.
Expert Tips & Tricks
- Be sure to whip the cottage cheese well until no clumps or curds remain. This will help achieve a creamy, velvety texture that is irresistable.
- If you're not a cottage cheese fan or you'd like to make this for something who really doesn't love the taste of cottage cheese, a healthy swap would plain greek yogurt. You'll still make a low calorie high protein dip without the cottage cheese.
- Instead of using the whole container, use only 1 serving of cottage cheese and around 1-2 tablespoons of dry ranch dressing mix to make a single serve option that's a great snack.
