Equipment

Ingredients

  • 12 oz OWYN Chocolate Protein Shake or similar
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder make sure you enjoy the taste of the protein powder you're using!
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter powder optional
  • peanut butter cups for topping, optional

Instructions

  • Mix the ice cream base. Pour the protein shake, protein powder and peanut butter powder into a ninja creami pint container. Using a handheld milk frother, mix the ice cream base until combined. No clumps of powder should remain. Alternatively, you could mix in a blender and pour into the pint container to the max fill line.
  • Freeze. Place storage lid on the container and place in the freezer on a level surface for a minimum of 8 hours. Ninja recommends at least 24 hours but I don't have that kind of patience and find that 8 hours is plenty.
  • Mix the ice cream. Once the base is frozen, place the ninja pint container in the outer bowl of the ninja creami and secure the outer bowl lid on top. Lock the outerbowl in place in the ninja creami motor base. For the initial spin you will choose the "Lite Ice Cream" function.
  • Respin. Once the first spin is complete, you will need to use the respin function in order for the ice cream to become super creamy. My best creami prep tip is to add a splash of milk of choice, just enough to barely cover the top of the pint, before you respin.
  • Add mix ins or toppings. You can feel free to customize this recipe further by adding peanut butter cups or chocolate chips as mix ins or simply add your favorite toppings & enjoy!

Notes

Expert Tips, Tricks & Favorite Add Ins

  • Make this edible cookie dough and scoop out small cookie dough balls to top this high protein chocolate ice cream in a super delicious way!
  • Or keep it simple by adding chocolate chips, a peanut butter cup or a drizzle of peanut butter.
  • Before respinning, I recommend always adding a little bit more almond milk, or dairy free milk of choice. Just enough to almost cover the top of the pint container is perfect, about 2-3 tsp. This will help ensure the final result is super creamy ice cream.

How to Store Leftover Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

Since this recipe is intended to be a single serve recipe, you shouldn't need to store it, but if you simply cannot finish the entire pint in one sitting you can follow these simple steps for storage. Smooth over the ice cream that is left in the container with the back of a spoon. Place the lid back on & freeze. You will need to run the leftovers back through the same steps in the Ninja Creami when you are going to enjoy it again. Note that if you added mix ins, the machine will end up pulverizing them!
