For the Crisp Filling

  • 4-5 medium apples peeled & sliced
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca starch
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • 5 tablespoon grass fed butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  • Prep. Preheat oven to 375 F and grease a 9″ pie dish with butter. Slice and peel apples.
  • Prepare filling. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, coconut sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon & cardamom to create the crisp filling. Stir gently to combine all ingredients until the apple slices are fully coated & pour mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Prepare the crumble topping. In the same mixing bowl, add almond flour, coconut sugar and cold butter. Using your hands, gently massage butter into dry ingredients until texture is crumbly.
  • Bake. Add the crumbly topping to the filling and evenly distribute across. Bake at 375F for 25-30 minutes or until crisp topping is golden brown.
